Hirschfeld-Mack, Keler-Molnar, F. Schliefer, others. Texts by Gropius, Kandinsky, Klee, Mohology-Nagy, Schlemmer, and others. Typography and layout by Moholy-Nagy. Printed paper cover designed by Herbert Bayer. First edition of the comprehensive programmatic publication of the Weimar Bauhaus. This copy has been expertly recased with new endpapers and gilt lettered spine. The contents, all extremely fresh, constitute a landmark of modern typography and design, employing red bar lines for division and emphasis as well as beige paper for text pages and white paper for illustrative pages, with numerous documentary photographs, photographic reproductions and original and reproduced works of art including Kandinsky and Klee. Although this edition called for 2600 copies, 2000 in German and 300 each in English and Russian; we believe these latter two editions were never published.
